A little bit about me.
I’m a self taught artist with an enthusiasm and desire to paint. I use all the visual stimuli around me to bring new life and interpretation to my art. My life in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and my travels around the world give me enormous incentive and depth of material to call upon.
In 2011 I went on a glass fusing taster session and I was hooked, before I knew it I had saved up and purchased a kiln, small it might be but for now it serves me well. Another taster session using PMC precious metal clay has changed my direction once again. The fused glass, fine silver and traditional Sterling silver sheet and wire are a joy to work with and I am still managing to achieve texture in my work as I did in my paintings.
My paint brushes and palette knives have been out of site in my workshop for a while but on out of mind! in September 13 I once again picked up my knives and started painting pictures for my 'On the Top' series of work ready for my 2014 exhibitions.
. . . . and my work
This is the first picture I painted after a holiday in Canada.
I painted a few more pictures around the home, for family and friends and after some encouragement I had my first exhibition at Studio 61 near Matlock Derbyshire.
My work has evolved over the past 3 few years. It is driven by shape, colour and the texture of the landscape to create
colourful contemporary paintings. Shimmering pearlescent and metallic powders give a sense of movement to my work. I work mainly in acrylic paint and ink, adding texture gel for more depth and added interest. The flow of the inks either flat or running through the texture is unpredictable giving each painting its individuality.
I work on gallery stretched block canvas and acrylic paper which has a textured finish.
